Greek Squad - ICC European U17 Division 2 Championship 2010
Cricket appears historically in Corfu, which was under the British domination, on the 23rd of April 1823 with a game between officers of the British Navy and the Garrison.
From then on, only 12 years needed for the Corfiots to learn the game and start taking up the British.
High peaks in the period before the First World War were the 1904 season with the commander in chief of the Mediterranean fleet with 30 – 40 ships attending the cricket festival and the 1932 season when the Prince of Wales on the battleship Queen Elizabeth and a total of 45 ships were present.
The Hellenic Cricket Federation was founded in 1996 and now numbers 21 clubs. In the try for renovation the U17 National Team has been formed. The squad is consisted of new players who have the passion and vision to play for the first time at European level. It is a good chance for young players to gain experiences, develop their technical abilities and play by the spirit of cricket.
Good luck to all participant countries!
